Our residents have a choice of private, semi-private and ward accommodation. Residents are encouraged to display personal mementos and items. While Picton Manor provides room furniture, residents and their families are welcome to bring in personal items. We suggest that residents and their families speak with the Administrator to ensure personal furniture is safe and can be accommodated.
Most resident rooms are telephone and cable television ready, with residents and their families arranging hook-up and payment schedules directly through Bell Canada and Persona Cable.
Picton Manor has a proud history of accom-modating couples and other family relationships when ever possible. At the request of residents and families Picton Manor can work to facilitate the sharing of residents rooms among spouses.
Common Areas:
Picton Manor has activity areas with books, board games and home entertainment centres – a wonderful place for families and residents to share discussions, reminisce, listen to music or watch a movie.
Outdoor Patios:
Picton Manor has a number of areas where residents and family can enjoy the outdoors.
Dining Room:
The main dining room at Picton Manor
is located on the main floor. This air conditioned area is bright and cheerful with windows looking out onto the neighbourhood and natural light. Residents that are part of the GentleCare program enjoy a peaceful and intimate dining room on the second floor.
When the main dining room is not buzzing with mealtime activity it is the site of regular activities and events including men’s club meetings, monthly pub nights, bingo, friendship teas, strawberry socials and birthday parties. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meals in the dining areas but we recognize that it is not always possible so we can arrange mealtimes in home areas for those who benefit from this different atmosphere.
Safety, Security & Optimizing Care
Safety and security is a priority at Picton Manor. All doors and elevators have keypad controlled access systems that allow staff to be aware of when people are entering or leaving. The GentleCare program on the second floor offers full security of entrance and exit for the safety of the residents.
